Event

University of Crete (UoC), Greece, Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH), Greece, University of Amsterdam (UvA), the Netherlands and Saint Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO University), Russian Federation, announce 2018 International Young Scientists Conference for young researchers and professionals in HPC technologies and computer modeling to take place at University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece.

The Conference aims to strengthen the ties between young scientists in different countries, thus promoting future collaboration in the framework of Computational Science and major application aspects of High Performance Computing, Computer Modeling and Simulation to tackle a wide range of issues in science, industry and business.

Simulation and systems thinking is one way to explain the complex world in which we live. By collecting data and creating computer models, scientists can make predictions on critical problems, such as how to influence the flow of traffic, how an epidemic will spread or the probability of individuals in society becoming addicted to drugs. The conference will cover the aspects related to HPC, BigData, large scale simulation of complex systems and offers an ideal range of topics for final year Master’s student or starting PhD students interested in this domain.

Scope

YSC 2018 invites original contributions on all topics related, but not limited to:

  • Modeling and Simulation of Complex Systems
  • Multi-scale Modeling in Physical Sciences
  • City Science and Urban Sustainable Development
  • Computational Biomedicine
  • Advanced Numerical Algorithms
  • Problem Solving Environments
  • Visualization, VR & AR in Computational Science

Requirements

APPLY FOR YSC 2018 REGISTER WITHOUT PRESENTATION

Please be ready for the following steps:

  • log in or register to Easychair.org
  • upload your article in the English Language in PDF according to Templates for Procedia Computer Science YSC 2018
  • TeX Template
  • Word Template
  • Procedia Computer Science Author Information Pack
  • File format
Files should be in both MS Word file (or Latex where applies) and PDF format, the CRC MS Word template should be converted to PDF according to the instructions in the template file, and both need to be submitted. Figures and tables should be embedded and not supplied separately. Please note that we require the file to be provided in .docx/.doc format for the MS Word file, files with .docm extension are not suitable for production and require conversion to .doc/.docx. Please make sure that you use as much as possible normal fonts in your documents. Special fonts, such as fonts used in the Far East (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.) may cause problems during processing. To avoid unnecessary errors you are strongly advised to use the 'spellchecker' function of MS Word before converting the document in to PDF.
  • Extended abstract of 2 pages, written in English should be uploaded through easychair in pdf

Publications

The manuscripts of up to 10 pages, written in English and formatted according to the EasyChair templates should contain statement and solutions (or research) of a specific problem within the limits of the conference subjects.

All YSC 2018 participants are expected to present the results of their research reflected in the papers in the English language for 10-15 minutes followed by Q&A session and take active part in all activities during the conference in Heraklion. Only papers presented at the conference will be published in Procedia Computer Science
